Broncos Knock Out Louisiana Tech in Five Games at WAC Tournament

LAS CRUCES, N.M. In an exciting game to open the Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, the Boise State volleyball team pulled out a thrilling five-game victory over Louisiana Tech with scores of 23-30, 30-22, 30-25, 27-30 and 15-11, Thursday.

 

As a team the Broncos out-hit the Lady Techsters, .123 to .206, while out-blocking La Tech 14.0 to 7.0.

 

Leading the way for the Broncos was sophomore Elise Ardron as she hit a career-high .500 (10-2-16), while teammates Tiffany Starring and Sadie Maughan tallied 13 kills each. Junior Maren Ericson also notched double-digit kills during the match, recording 12 kills of her own.

 

Junior Mandy Klein set the pace for Boise State, tallying 49 assists en route to recording her fifth double-double of the season. Klein, who notched 16 digs for the Broncos, was in good company in the double-figure category as Starring earned her third double-double of the season with a career-high 18 digs.  

 

Defensively, the Broncos were led by freshman libero Lauren Hamm as she tallied 26 digs. Maughan recorded five total blocks, while teammates Starring and Alisha King each notched a pair of single blocks.

 

The Broncos now prepare to take on No. 1 seeded Hawaii at 2:30 p.m. at the WAC Volleyball Tournament, Thursday.
