Boise State volleyball battled hard in a tight four-set affair to down San Diego State Wednesday night 27-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22 at Bronco Gym.

Boise State Rallies Past Nevada
Sabryn Roberts had a big night with 17 kills and career-high five blocks to lead a Boise State rally from one set down past Nevada in four 20-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-21 at Reno Thursday.

  • Boise State (18-7, 10-3 MW) host a pair of Mountain West matches this week in Bronco Gym beginning with San Diego State (9-18, 6-8 MW) at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed by Nevada (11-15, 6-8 MW) at 2 p.m. Saturday.
  • Boise State closes the regular season by hosting four of its final five matches at home. 

San Diego State; Thursday, Nov. 12

  • The Broncos open the weekend by hosting the San Diego State Aztecs Thursday night. 
  • The Aztecs are coming off a home sweep last week over Fresno State (3-0) and UNLV (3-0) to give them a 9-18 overall record and 6-8 league mark, tied for sixth.
  • Alexandra Psoma leads SDSU at 2.41 kills per set followed by Baylee Little at 2.27 kps.
  • As a team San Diego State hits 16.8 percent (10th MW) and averages 12.45 kills per set (7th MW).
  • The Aztecs lead the series 6-3, but the Broncos have won two straight.
  • Last time in San Diego (Oct. 17) Boise State took the match in five sets.

Nevada; Saturday, Nov. 14

  • The week's action continues on Saturday against Nevada at 2 p.m. 
  • Nevada is also coming off a home sweep last week over UNLV (3-1) and Fresno State (3-1) giving the Wolf Pack a 11-15 overall record and 6-8 league mark, tied for sixth.
  • Madison Morell leads Nevada averaging a league-second-best 3.88 kills per set on the year, but leads the MW during conference play at 4.52 kps ... Madison Foley is next at 3.32 kps on the year.
  • As a team the Wolf Pack hits 18.7 percent (8th MW) and averages 12.53 kills per set (4th MW).
  • Boise State leads the tight series 27-26, but the Broncos have dominated lately winning eight straight.
  • Last time in Reno (Oct. 15) Boise State took the match in four sets.


NCAA Bubble Watch

  • Boise State moved up five spots to No. 45 on this week's NCAA RPI placing them firmly in content for a potential NCAA Tournament at-large bid ... they still need help, but the Broncos are in the conversation.
  • At No. 45 the Broncos rank second in the MW behind Colorado State at No. 31.
  • Six of the seven Broncos' losses have come to teams ranked in the top-55: Washington No. 7, Colorado State No. 31 (twice), Wyoming No. 48, Northern Arizona No. 50, Idaho State No. 54 ... Gonzaga is at No. 76.
  • Boise State defeated No. 38 Northwestern.

Bronco Wins Analysis

  • Boise State has won 18 matches this year, 10 by 3-0 sweeps ... 10-3 overall in three set contests.
  • The Broncos are 4-3 in four-set matches and 4-1 in five-sets.

  • Garus currently sits at 227-219 overall in his 15-year career as a collegiate head coach.

  • For the first time in program history the Broncos lead the nation in two statistical categories, kills and assists per set. 
  • They average 15.7 kills per set (1st MW), which would be a school record if season was over ... they finished last year ranked 17th in NCAA at 14.21 kps.
  • Boise State dishes out 14.67 assists per set (1st MW), another potential school record if the season was over ... the Broncos were 15th nationally at the end of 2014 at 13.25.
  • Hitting percentage of .278 is second in the MW and 13th nationally ... they finished 2014 ranked 24th nationally at .263, a school record. 

Nobley Approaches School Kills Record

  • The sophomore outside hitter currently has 423 kills this season as she approaches school record for kills in a season ... she currently sits in fourth place.
  • The all-time school record for kills in a season is 438 set by Sharon Leonhardt (1983-86) 30 years ago in 1986. 

Baugh Reaches 1,000 Assists

  • For the second-consecutive year Sarah Baugh has reached the 1,000 assists milestone in a season with 1,124 on the year.
  • Total ranks 10th all-time at Boise State.
  • She had 1,209 last year which is sixth all-time and second-most in rally scoring era. 
  • The 1,000 assists in a season milestone has only been accomplished 13 times in program history ... six times during rally scoring era.

Hubbard Joins the 1,000 Digs Club

  • Boise State junior Hannah Hubbard has joined the 1,000 career digs club at Boise State.
  • She is the 13th Bronco ever to reach the milestone and the fifth during the rally scoring era (RSE).
  • The native of San Diego, Calif., recorded five digs at Fresno State (Oct. 29) to put her over the top with 1,003.
  • She currently stands at 1,012 career digs, 12th all-time.

Baugh Moving Up Career List

  • Sarah Baugh is closing in on fourth place on the Boise State career assists list with 3,549 ... she needs 35 to tie Mandy Klein (2005-08) for fourth place with 3,584. 
  • If Baugh passes Klein that would place her first during the rally scoring era.
  • Third place all-time is likely out of her reach at 3,944.

Osburn Moving Up on Season Digs List

  • Osburn's 434 digs this season currently ranks tied for fifth all-time in program history and fifth in the rally scoring era.

Sarah Baugh in the Rankings

  • On the year, senior setter Sarah Baugh leads the MW and is third nationally in assists per set at 12.22.
  • She also leads the MW and is ranked 21st in NCAA for total assists at 1,124.

Sierra Nobley in the Rankings

  • Has led the Broncos in kills during 20 of 25 matches this season.
  • Leads MW and is ranked 12th nationally for kills per set at 4.65.
  • Nobley leads the MW and is 14th in NCAA for points per set at 5.14. 
  • Leads MW and ranked 23rd nationally in total kills with 423.

Kaitlyn Oliver in the Rankings

  • Oliver ranks second in MW and 19th nationally in hitting percentage at .408.
