Broncos Fall in Three at Hawaii

HONOLULU - The Boise State volleyball team took on No. 5 ranked University of Hawaii for the second time in a week, this time facing the 15-time Western Athletic Conference champions on their home court in Honolulu.

Just like their match a week ago in Boise, Idaho, the Rainbow Wahine (20-1, 10-0 WAC) swept the Broncos (17-10, 4-7 WAC) with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-18) score.

Hawaii led in all categories, recording 49 kills (.366), 45 assists, two aces, 51 digs and 12 blocks (two solo). Boise State tallied 24 kills (.103), 22 assists, 31 digs and six blocks (two solo).

The Broncos were led by Liz Harden who racked up six kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Cailin Fellows also added five kills, as well as one of the two solo blocks on the night. Amanda Remy added 12 digs, while Kersti Whitney added seven in the defensive efforts. Alisha Young led the team defensively at the net, tallying two blocks (one solo) on the night.

Hawaii's Kanani Danielson led the match with 15 kills (.433), while also adding seven digs and one ace. Dani Mafua added the team's other ace serve as well as 37 assists. Elizabeth Ka'aihue led the match with 20 digs, while Brittany Hewitt and Chanteal Satele led the match with four blocks each.

The Broncos continue their season this week at Utah State and Nevada, rounding up their 2010 WAC road schedule. Boise State takes on Utah State at 7 p.m. (Mountain) on Thurs., Nov. 4 in Logan, Utah. Then they head to Reno, Nev., to take on Nevada in an 8 p.m. (Mountain) match.
