WHAT'S HAPPENING

Boise State (17-6, 8-2 MW) continues Mountain West action this week when the Broncos hit the road for the first two of a three match road swing. The Broncos will open the week in Reno against the Nevada Wolf Pack (14-7, 5-4 MW) Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (Mountain), followed by a encounter at San Diego State (13-10, 5-4 MW) Saturday night at 7 p.m. (Mountain). Boise State has won six straight and is tied for first in the MW standings with Colorado State and UNLV, meanwhile Nevada and San Diego State are tied for fifth, both are coming off defeats at Utah State last week.    

The preseason Mountain West poll picked Boise State to finish second, San Diego State was projected to tie for fifth, while Nevada was projected seventh out of the 11 teams. The Broncos are 28-27 all-time versus Nevada and 5-6 against SDSU. In the first encounter of the year at Bronco Gym Boise State defeated the Aztecs 3-0 (Sept. 29) then lost to Nevada 3-1 (Oct. 1), that was Boise State's last loss this year.

Overall Team

  • Boise State brings a 17-6 overall record and 8-2 league mark into the weekend.
  • Can Boise State keep its six-match win streak going.
  • The Broncos current win streak set a new school record last week for consecutive wins by sweeps with six.
  • Broncos are ranked 37th in the latest NCAA RPI ranking of the fall.
  • Boise State is hitting 24.1 percent (3rd MW) as a team and holding opponents to 17.8 percent (3rd MW) ... the Broncos are averaging 14.36 kills (1st MW/11th NCAA) and 2.51 blocks (4th MW) per set.

Sierra Nobley, Broncos' Leader

  • Nobley leads the MW in double-doubles this year recording 13 in 23 matches, she is third among active players in the MW with 30 in her career.
  • Nobley moved into second place on the Boise State career kills list last week with a combined 34 to give her 1,306 ... first place (1,510) is most likely out of reach this year.
  • Nobley has moved into fourth on the Boise State career points list with 1,459.0 ... she needs 104 to move into a tie for third at 1,563.0.
  • The Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year leads the league on the year and in conference play in kills per set at 4.46 and 4.68, respectively ... on they ear she is ranked 14th nationally.
  • She leads the MW and is ranked 18th nationally for points per set at 5.01 ... she leads conference in MW play at 5.26.
  • Has been named MW Offensive Player of the Week twice this season and a school record seventh in her career.

Maddy O'Donnell, Senior Impact

  • Maddy O'Donnell moved into ninth place for career blocks in the win over Utah State (Oct. 8) with 333, she now has 351 and needs 10 to tie for 10th place (361) and 16 for seventh (368).
  • Maddy O'Donnell is second on team and 12th in MW for scoring with 289.5 points (212 kills, 19 service aces, 12 block solos and 93 block assists).
  • O'Donnell leads the MW during league play for blocks per set at 1.56 with a conference-high 53 total blocks ... on the year she is fourth in the MW and 33rd in NCAA at 1.3 per set, she is tied for first in MW and 28th nationally for total blocks at 105.
  • O'Donnell is sixth on the year and 90th nationally in hitting percentage at .345.
  • Was named MW Offensive Player of the Week once this season (Oct. 17).

Maddi Osburn, Defensive Leader

  • Defensively, Maddi Osburn leads the MW and is 18th nationally in digs per set at 5.16 ... she has a league high 418 total digs which ranks 38th in the NCAA.
  • Her 418 digs this year ranks 10th in school history ... she needs three to move into ninth and 21 to move into seventh.
  • Osburn is in 11th on the Bronco all-time career digs list with 1,091, 69 short of 10th.
  • Has been named MW Defensive Player of the Week four times this season an five times in career.

Kaitlyn Oliver

  • Oliver is the current school career hitting percentage record holder at .368 (693-160-1450) ... she is hitting .336 this season to rank seventh in MW and 114th in NCAA.
  • Oliver has 252 career blocks to rank 19th in program history, five short of 18th.

Sabryn Roberts

  • Second on team in total kills with 218 ... 12 matches in double-figure kills.
  • Third on team in total points with 238.5.

Janell Walley

  • The freshman has 124 kills to rank fifth on team.
  • 11 matches with seven or more kills with a season-high of 10 at San Jose State (Oct. 13).
  • Second on team in total services aces with 22 ... ranks ninth in MW for aces per set at 0.29.  

Jaymee-Lee Bulda

  • Bulda ranks second in MW and eighth nationally for assists per set at 11.59.
  • She has 765 assists this year which is sixth in MW, 104th in NCAA.
  • Bulda ranks 17th in program history for career assists with 783.

Emily Sullivan

  • Leads team in service aces with 29, fifth in MW and 82nd nationally.
  • Ranked second in MW and 20th nationally in service aces per set at 0.45.


QUICK LOOK AT NEVADA

  • The Wolf Pack are 14-7 overall and 5-4 in conference play, they are coming off a pair of road defeats at San Diego State (3-0) and Utah State (3-1).
  • The Wolf Pack return four starters and five letterwinners from last year's squad that went 12-18 overall and 7-11 in conference, seventh place.
  • Madison Morell leads Nevada averaging 4.17 kills per set (2nd MW), she had 19 kills in the first meeting at Boise ... Kathryn Groenweghe is hitting a team-high 35.1 percent (5th MW) for 175 kills (2.13 kps).
  • As a team the Wolf Pack hits 25 percent  (2nd MW) and hold opponents to 23.1 percent (11th MW), they average 12.94 kills per set (5th MW).


QUICK LOOK AT SAN DIEGO STATE  

  • The Aztecs enter the week at 13-10 overall and 5-4 in MW play, they split last week beating Nevada (3-0) at home, then falling at Utah State (3-2).
  • SDSU  returns all six starters plus the libero and 10 letterwinners from last year's team that went 12-19 overall and 9-9 in MW play, good for a tie for fifth place.
  • On the year Alexandra Psoma leads the Aztecs averaging 3.12 kills per set (11th MW), she had a team-high 10 kills versus Boise State in the first meeting ... Deja Harris leads the team in hitting at 38.4 percent (2nd MW) for 237 kills (2.74 kps).
  • As a team SDSU hits 21.1 percent (8th MW)  and holds opponents to 21.8 percent (8th MW) ... the Aztecs average 13.14 kills per set (4th MW).
