Athlete of the Week 10/19-25: Alisha Young
BOISE, Idaho – Junior Alisha Young set a new career-best in hitting percentage and led the Boise State volleyball team to a pair of sweeps over WAC opponents to earn this week’s Bronco Athlete of the Week honors. Young’s .536 hitting percentage against Nevada led the Broncos to their second straight sweep and third straight home win.

The junior from American Fork, Utah tallied 29 kills on the week with 17 coming in the sweep over Nevada and 12 coming in the Broncos Thursday sweep over Utah State. She hit a stellar .419 on the week as well as adding five blocks in the Broncos two wins. Young led the Broncos to two huge wins as they are trying to secure one of the six spots in the WAC Tournament with only six matches left on the schedule.

The Broncos go for their fourth straight home win against Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. on Saturday in Bronco Gym. The men’s golf team returns to action this week in Las Cruces, N.M. and the wrestling team opens its season in on the road against Northern Idaho. The football team returns to Bronco Stadium to take on San Jose State on Saturday, and the women’s soccer team closes out its regular season with a pair of home matches against Hawaii and San Jose State on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The cross country teams will take off to the WAC Championships in Reno, Nev. on Saturday to round out this week’s schedule.
