Boise State Falls in Heartbreaker at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Boise State rallied time and again against Wyoming Saturday afternoon only to come up short eventually falling in five sets (24-26, 25-22, 25-9, 25-27, 18-16) in a Mountain West volleyball match at Laramie. The match saw three sets go extra points and the Broncos rally from 2-1 down to force a fifth set. Boise State rallied again in the fifth set to earn match point but could not convert as the Cowgirls regrouped to claim the victory.
          
Taylor Murphey led Boise State recording a team and season-high 18 kills while hitting 30 percent, she added three blocks and one dig as well. Two other Broncos contributed double-doubles on the day with Alyssa Gammel finishing with 11 kills and team-high 14 digs. Sarah Baugh dished out a career-high 56 assists and 13 digs to go with five kills and one block.
          
Maddy O'Donnell added 12 kills and team-high four blocks.  Kaitlyn Oliver chipped in with nine kills and three blocks, Katelyn Kinghorn had nine kills followed by Sierra Nobley with seven.
               
Boise State finished the match hitting 18.4 percent for 72 kills with 65 assists, three service aces, 56 digs and nine blocks.  
           
Wyoming hit 28.8 percent against the Broncos for 60 kills to go with 59 assists, four service aces, 56 digs and 17.5 blocks. Erin Kirby led the Cowgirls with 16 kills followed by Laura Beach with 14, Kayla Henderson with 13 and Bridget Shanahan with 11.
                     
The loss drops the Broncos to 12-10 overall and 5-5 in MW play. Boise State will be back in action next week when New Mexico and Air Force come to town.
