Nobley and Osburn Honored by MW

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State junior outside hitter Sierra Nobley has earned Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Bronco junior libero Maddi Osburn has garnered MW Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolades for matches played through Sunday, October 23, 2016. It is the seventh Conference weekly award for Nobley, while it is Osburn’s fifth career accolade. The Boise State tandem led the Broncos to a pair of sweeps over New Mexico and UNLV last week.


NOBLEY’S HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK

  • Junior, Outside Hitter, Scottsdale, Arizona / Horizon HS
  • Led Boise State to a 2-0 week with home wins against New Mexico and UNLV.
  • Averaged 5.67 kills and 6.33 points per set with a .315 hitting percentage.
  • Nobley tallied a team-high 34 kills while hitting 31.5 percent for a 5.67 kills per set average ... she also had two service aces and four block assists to give her 38.0 points on the weekend, 6.33 per set. … added two assists and 11 digs as well.
  • Nobley’s 34 kills on the week pushed her into second-place on the Boise State career list with 1,306 … only the second Bronco ever to surpass 1,300 … the 38.0 points also put her into fourth-place for career points with 1,459.0.
  • In the win over New Mexico, Nobley had a team-high 17 kills while hitting a season-high 50 percent to go with one service ace and one block assist to finish with 18.5 points … she helped the Broncos put the match away by hitting 70.6 percent (12-0-17) in the last two sets.
  • In Saturday’s defeat of then-league-leading UNLV, Nobley tallied a team-high 17 kills with one service ace, two assists and three block assists to finish with a team-best 19.5 points.


OSBURN’S HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK
  • Junior, Libero, Nampa, Idaho / Vallivue HS
  • Led Boise State defensively to a 2-0 record with victories against New Mexico and UNLV.
  • Averaged 6.67 digs per set, and no reception errors for a 1.000 reception percentage, while playing in all six sets.
  • In the Broncos’ win over New Mexico she recorded a team-high 13 digs AND was perfect on 22 service receptions.
  • In Saturday’s victory over then-league-leading UNLV, Osburn tallied a team-high 27 digs for a 9.0 digs per set average and was perfect on 17 service receptions … she anchored the Broncos’ defensive effort that held UNLV to 10.5 percent hitting.
