BOISE, Idaho - Boise State University's volleyball team fell in three to two-time defending Mountain West champion Colorado State Thursday night in Bronco Gym at Boise.  The Rams put their height advantage to good use as they controlled the net winning in straight sets 25-15, 25-17 and 25-16.  The Broncos fought hard but could not get momentum going their way against CSU. Liz Harden led Boise State with 11 kills, followed by Elizabeth Griffin with eight and Leah Stevens with seven. The loss drops the Broncos to 12-11 overall and 3-5 in conference, while Colorado State improved to 14-4 and 7-1 in league.  Next up for Boise State is a 7:00 pm encounter Saturday night against Wyoming.

Colorado State opened the match with a dominating 25-15 win in the first set as the Broncos hit .143 percent to the Rams' .556. The second set was similar to the first as Boise State struggled with Colorado State's height at the net, two players at 6-4 and two others at 6-3, and finished hitting .026 percent. However, the Broncos defense began to settle down recording a match-high 16 digs while holding the Rams to .219 percent hitting.

The third set went to the Rams 25-16. The Broncos opened it by taking the early lead, unfortunately, CSU used a 6-2 run midway through to turn a 13-10 lead into a 19-12 advantage. The Rams then coasted to the nine-point victory for the match.

Liz Harden led the Broncos with 13 points on 11 kills and two aces while hitting a team-high .400 percent. Elizabeth Griffin was second with eight points on eight kills, followed by Leah Stevens with 7.5 points, seven kills (.357) and one block assist. Breann Nesselhuf recorded a team-best 30 assists and Amanda Remy had a high of 12 digs. Boise State hit .092 percent on the night with two blocks.

Dana Cranston led CSU with 13.5 points on nine kills (.429), three aces and three block assists. Katelyn Steffan added 10.5 points with eight kills (.412), one solo block and three block assists. The Rams finished the match hitting .383 percent from the court with 10.5 blocks.
