Baugh Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week

Oct. 19, 2015

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (10/19/2015) - Boise State's Sarah Baugh has been named the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 12-18. Baugh led Boise State to a road sweep last week as the Broncos defeated both Nevada (3-1) and San Diego State (3-2) to extend their win streak to six and improve to 6-2 in league, good for second place. This is the first player of the week honor for the senior setter and the fifth of the year for the Broncos overall.

Last Week's Highlights

  • Baugh averaged 53 assists per match and 11.78 per set while the team hit a combined 34.2 percent on the week. She also averaged 0.67 kills, 1.67 digs and 0.56 blocks during the two match stretch.
  • The senior from Poulsbo, Wash., led Boise State in its rally from one set down past Nevada (Oct. 15) by dishing out 45 assists for a 50 percent assist percentage as the Broncos recorded 57 kills and hit 40 percent against the Wolf Pack. In addition, she tallied five kills, five digs and four blocks in the winning effort.
  • On Saturday at San Diego State, Baugh guided the Broncos to victory in a classic five-set battle with the Aztecs where every set was decided by the minimum two point victory margin with three going to extra points.
  • It was Boise State's first ever road victory over the Aztecs.
  • Baugh distributed 61 assists while recording a 87.1 assist percentage as the Broncos hit 30.2 percent against the Aztecs for 68 kills.
  • She recorded her Mountain West high (tied) 10th double-double against SDSU with 61 assists and 10 digs to go with one kill, one service ace and one block.
  • That lone block was huge for the Broncos at San Diego State. With Boise State facing defeat as the Aztecs had match point at 15-14 in the fifth set, Baugh helped the Broncos turn away SDSU as she and Kaitlyn Oliver teamed up to block the point on a SDSU kill attempt denying the Aztecs the victory and tying the set at 15 all. That allowed the Broncos the opportunity to come back on three straight points to win the set 17-15 and claim the match.
