Walley Earns MW Weekly Defensive Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman Janell Walley has been named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 3-9. She helped lead the Broncos to a pair of 3-0 sweeps at Air Force and at home versus Utah State as Boise State improved to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in league. This is Walley's first conference weekly honor in her career at Boise State.

WALLEY'S HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE PAST WEEK

  • On the week, Walley recorded 22 digs to average 3.67 per set, as well as nine blocks for a 1.5 per set average … her serve reception percentage was .929 (1-14) ... also had seven kills and tied for the team-high in service aces with two.

  • In the win at Air Force on Oct. 4 she had four kills, 12 digs and career-high-tying five blocks … she had a block assists in the second set that gave the Broncos set point  which led to the win on the next series … in the third set sheteamed up to record back-to-back block assists that gave Boise State its 24th and 25th points to win the set 25-22 and clinch the match victory.

  • In Boise State's win over Utah State Saturday, Oct. 8, Walley tallied three kills, two service aces, 10 digs and four blocks.
