WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK

  • Boise State (11-7, 4-2 MW) is looking to bounced back from a pair of tough home losses when the Broncos hit the road for Utah State (11-7, 3-3 MW) and Air Force (8-12, 1-5 MW) this week. 

  • The Broncos play at Utah State Tuesday night at 7 p.m. (Mountain) followed with a bye on Thursday. 

  • The week will conclude Saturday at Air Force with a start time of 5:30 p.m. (Mountain) in Colorado Springs, Colo.

LAST WEEK FOR THE BRONCOS

  • The Broncos lost a pair of heartbreaking home contests last week in five sets each.

  • It began with No. 23 Colorado State on Thursday. Boise State won the first two sets but was unable to put it away as the Rams rallied back to win it in the fifth set on extra points 17-15. 

  • Sierra Nobley returned to the lineup for Boise State after missing four matches to lead the Broncos with a double-double versus the Rams on a team-high 24 kills and 12 digs, she also had four blocks. 

  • Sabryn Roberts added 13 kills nine digs and four blocks, while Janell Walley had 13 kills, seven digs and four blocks. 

  • On Saturday Boise State faced the Wyoming Cowgirls and found themselves having to battle from behind all day. They rallied twice from a set down only to fall in the fifth set 15-13. 

  • Nobley led three Broncos with double-doubles against the Cowgirls. She had 27 kills and 16 digs, Roberts had 15 kills and 13 digs, while Jaymee-Lee Bulda finished with 35 assists and 12 digs. 

ABOUT UTAH STATE

  • The Aggies enter the week at 11-7 overall and 3-3 league mark. 

  • USU is coming off two home defeats to Wyoming (3-0) and No. 23 Colorado State (3-0). 

  • Utah State is averaging 12.8 kills per set (5th MW) while hitting 21.4 percent (5th MW) on the year ... the Aggies are holding opponents to .191 percent hitting (6th MW).

  • USU was picked to place sixth in the MW preseason poll after returning four starters, and seven letterwinners from last year’s team. 

  • This will be the 40th meeting in the all-time series which Boise State leads 22-17 ... the Broncos swept both meetings last year and has won four straight.

ABOUT AIR FORCE

  • The Falcons enter the week at 8-12 overall and 1-5 in league play. 

  • Air Force is coming off a road split last week defeating Fresno State 3-2, then fell at San Diego State 3-1.

  • AFA is averaging 11.9 kills per set (9th MW) while hitting 17.5 percent (9th MW) as a team ... meanwhile, the Falcons hold opponents to 18.9 percent (4th MW). 

  • Air Force was picked to place 11th in the 2017 MW race after returning six starters and 10 letterwinners from last year’s squad. 

  • This is the 15th meeting in the series which is led by Boise State 12-2 ... Boise State won both contests last year and has won five in a row.

  • Boise State leads the league in four statistical categories entering the week: kills per set at 14.24, assists per set at 13.30, total digs at 1,040 and digs per set at 15.76.

BOISE STATE TOP NCAA RANKINGS

  • The Broncos are ranked 18th in the NCAA for kills per set (14.24) and 20th for assists per set (13.30).

NCAA RPI

  • Boise State is ranked 58th in the latest NCAA RPI of the year.

  • Colorado State is the only MW team to make the top 50 coming at 30, Wyoming is No. 86.

  • Seven of Boise State’s 12 nonconference opponents are in the top 100: Minnesota (4), BYU (19), Missouri (35), Oregon State (43), Portland State (62), Arizona State (81), Santa Clara (91).

NOBLEY LEADS THE MW IN DOUBLE-DOUBLES

  • The senior outside hitter leads the MW with a league-high 44 career doubles, including nine this season. 

  • She has two in MW play during 2017 versus Colorado State (Oct. 5) and Wyoming (Oct. 7).

NOBLEY AMONG NCAA CAREER LEADERS

  • Sierra Nobley is currently ranked among the NCAA’s top-6 for 2017’s active players in four categories: third for career kills (1,728), third for kills per set (4.54), fourth for total attacks (4,420) and fifth for attacks per set (11.60). 

OSBURN IN NCAA TOP-25 CAREER DIGS

  • Senior libero Maddi Osburn is currently ranked 20th among active 2017 NCAA players for career digs with 1,570.
