Broncos Continue to Roll in the Midwest
Broncos down Arkansas-Little Rock 3-0 for fourth consecutive victory. 

NORMAN, Okla. - Boise State volleyball continued its strong play Saturday afternoon winning its fourth straight match by a 3-0 score as the Broncos defeated the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 25-19, 25-16, 25-15 on the second day of the Sooner Legends Nike Invitational in Norman, Okla.  For the fourth time this week the blue and orange swept its opponent in straight sets to improve to 8-3 on the season. Fiona Jones and Darlene Nwagbuo led the Broncos to the victory with 11 kills apiece as the team hit a combined 35.6 percent in the win over the Sun Belt Conference school. Next up for Boise State is a 6:00 p.m. (Mountain) encounter with their host the No. 22 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (12-3).

"I am really proud with the way the team has played this week," commented head coach Shawn Garus. "We are developing consistent play across the board and have had numerous individuals step up and contribute to the team's success."

The Broncos entered the day knowing that the competition level would pick-up today beginning with Arkansas-Little Rock who entered the match at 5-7 on the year and 2-1 at the tournament.   It took Boise State just over an hour (1:17) to put away the Trojans. The Broncos opened with a 25-19 victory in the first set hitting 41.4 percent (15-3-29). They struggled a bit to open the second set before regrouping to pull away for a nine-point win, hitting a tournament-low 22 percent (16-7-41) in the set. The third set was all Boise State as the Broncos recorded a 47.1 hitting percentage (19-3-34) on their way to a 10-point 25-15 win and the straight set match victory.

Fiona Jones led the Broncos with 12.5 points on 11 kills (.200), one block solo and one block assist. Nwagbuo followed Jones with a career-high 73.3 hitting percentage for 12 points on 11 kills and two block assists. Brittany Reardon added nine points on seven kills, one ace and two block assists, close behind were Breann Nesselhuf, playing more in an attackers role, and Elizabeth Griffin with eight points each. Nesselhuf and Casey Rose shared the setters role with Nesselhuf recording a team-high 23 assists to Rose's 20. Amanda Remy contributed a team-high 12 digs.

Paige Gantar led Arkansas-Little Rock with 11 points on 10 kills (.421) and two block assists, followed by Edina Begic with nine points on nine kills.

Boise State now has a four-match win streak and has won 12 consecutive sets as they improve to 5-1 in contests decided in three sets. The Broncos lone three-set loss was to current No. 4 ranked University of Washington at the Northwest Challenge on Sept. 3 in Spokane, Wash.
