Harden Leads Boise State Past Weber State
Harden records third best match hitting percentage all-time at .818 percent.

OGDEN, Utah - Liz Harden's career night led Boise State volleyball past Weber State in a straight set victory (25-21, 25-19, 25-14) Tuesday night in Ogden, Utah. Harden, a junior outside hitter, was impressive on the night tying the school record for kills in a three-set match with 18, as well as recording the second highest three-set hitting percentage at .818 in program history. It was the Broncos second straight-set victory of the season as they improved to 5-3 on the year.  

"It was an good team effort offensively for us, led by (Liz) Harden's career night," said head coach Shawn Garus. "With the exception of our serving, we out played Weber State in every phase. It was a good way to start a busy week for us with four more matches coming this weekend in Oklahoma."

Boise State opened the match with a tough four-point victory, 25-21, in the first set. The Broncos hit a solid .434 percent in the set led by Harden with five kills on seven attempts. The visitors followed that up with an easier win in the second set by a 25-19 margin. The final set was the best for Boise State this year as the Broncos hit an impressive .600 percent (15-0-25) with no kill errors as they ran away from the Wildcats by 11 points, 25-14.

Harden's night finished with her recording 18 kills on 22 attempts with no errors to go with one solo block for 19 points. The junior's hitting percentage ranks second in a three-set match since the inception of rally scoring in 2001, however, it is also the third-best overall match hitting percentage all-time.

Boise State finished the night hitting a season-high .434 percent on 44 kills on 83 attempts. Fiona Jones followed Harden with 8.5 points on seven kills (.211) one service ace and one block assist. Elizabeth Griffin added 8.0 points with eight kills, Darlene Nwagbuo contributed 6.0 points on five kills and one solo block. Breann Nesselhuf recorded a team-high 38 assists, while Amanda Remy had a 11 digs to lead the Broncos in the back. Kersti Whitney saw her first action of the year recording one assist, one service ace and six digs.

The Wildcats finished the match hitting .152 percent recording 25 kills on 79 attempts. Bethany Wray led Weber State with 13 points on 10 kills (.161) and three aces, followed by Mackenzie Clark with 5.5 points on five kills (.176) and one block assist.

Boise State will take its 5-3 record to Norman, Okla., this weekend as the Broncos continue their 14-match road swing to open the season. They will play two matches on Friday against Texas Southern and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, followed by two on Saturday versus Arkansas-Little Rock and No. 22 Oklahoma.
