Broncos Host Utah Valley on Thursday in First Non-Tournament Match of 2009

► What's Happening - The Boise State volleyball team returns home for their first home match in September as well as their first non-conference regular season match in Bronco Gym. The Broncos will take on Utah Valley University out of Orem, Utah on Thursday, Sept. 17 in a 7 p.m. match at Bronco Gym.

► Ticket Prices - Doors open one hour before match time with regular admission at $5.00 for an adult, $3.00 for a junior/senior and students (with a valid student ID) are free.

► Live Stats - Live stats of the match will be available at game time on For those fans wanting to subscribe to Bronco Vision, they can do so under the "Multimedia" tab on and select "Live Webcasts". Subscriptions include a month-to-month subscription for $9.95 or a yearly subscription to all sports for $69.95. Live stats is free of charge.  

Looking at Boise State...
► In General - The Broncos return home after three straight weekends of tournaments holding a 0-9 record. They have faced tough opponents in No. 3 Washington, No. 20 UC Irvine and 2008 NCAA Qualifier Portland State. The Utah Valley University match on Thursday will be one of only three non-conference matches out of the 19 regular season matches remaining in the season. The Broncos will face UVU once more in Orem, Utah on Mon., Oct. 5 as well as non-conference opponent Idaho State on Sat., Oct. 10.  

► Tournament Honors - The Broncos have placed three members on three different tournament teams this season, including: Liz Harden (Bronco Invite All-Tournament Team), Alisha Young (Northwest Challenge All-Tournament Team) and Breann Nesselhuf (Crowne Plaza LAX All-Tournament Team).

► Quick Look at the Broncos - Boise State will look to a handful of Broncos for leadership this coming week. Junior Sadie Maughan leads the team in total points this season with 75.5 while also leading the team in blocks with 39.0 on the season. Junior Alisha Young leads the team in kills with 62 while sophomore Breann Nesselhuf leads the team in assists with 181. Senior Jeanene Rose has tallied a team high of nine service aces while junior Lauren Hamm holds the top spot in digs with 88 on the season.

An Overview: Boise State vs. Utah Valley...
► The Series - The series between the Broncos and the Wolverines began in 2003 and has given UVU a 4-1 lead over Boise State. The Broncos, however, did win the most recent meeting on Oct. 23, 2008 when they defeated Utah Valley 3-2 in Bronco Gym.   
► About Utah Valley - The Wolverines hold a 5-4 record on the season entering the week of Sept. 14. They have earned impressive wins over Gonzaga (3-1), Weber State (3-0), Utah State (3-1), No. 17-ranked Utah (3-1) and Idaho State (3-1). Their losses have come to big-name opponents including Washington State, Missouri and two losses to No. 15 USC.

They are led by Kayli Broadbent who has racked up 121 kills on the season as well as 12 service aces to lead the team. Chelsea Fa'alogo leads the team in assists with 301 while Allyce Jones leads the team in digs with 156. Sarah Clement holds the top spot in blocks with 25 total, including a team leading three solo blocks.
