BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State University volleyball team starts conference play for the 2007 season with match-ups against Utah State and No. 15 Hawai’i.
“I think we’re good to go on the road,” Bronco head coach Robin Davis said. “We’ve been on the road a couple of weekends and we’re traveling okay. Their legs are good, they’ve trained pretty hard up until this point and we’re excited to play Utah State for the opener.”
The Broncos will travel to Logan, Utah to take on Utah State, Thurs., Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. before making the trek across the Pacific to Honolulu where they will face No. 15 Hawai’i, Sat., Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

Utah State (3-6): Last week, Utah State competed at the Golden Bear Invitational where the Aggies went 1-2; posting a win over Eastern Kentucky ... Leading the offensive attack for the Aggies is Amanda Nelson, who is averaging 4.41 kills per game, while teammate Chelsea Fowles has tallied 159 assists on the season to average 9.94 apg.
No. 15 Hawai’i (6-3): The Rainbow Wahine are currently ranked No. 15 in the CSTV/AVCA poll and No. 17 according to the Rich Kern Top 25 ... Hawai’i is currently on a three-game winning streak, with their last win being over No. 19 Santa Clara ... Leading the attack for Hawai’i is Juliana Sanders with a hitting-percentage of .286 (76-26-175). Sanders also leads the team in blocks with an average of 1.29 bpg ... Aiding to the defensive front is Elizabeth Ka’aihue with an average of 4.38 dpg.

“We’re not looking at Hawai’i yet, we know we have two matches this weekend but we really worked on Utah State and studying that. Obviously the WAC is a tough volleyball conference, so with eight home games and eight away games, we’re looking to try and win at least four of the eight away games, so Utah State is a big one for us.”

Against UC Davis Despite putting up a tough fight the Boise State volleyball team fell to UC Davis in four games ... Mandy Klein led the offensive front for the Broncos with 31 assists and posted a hitting-percentage of .300 (3-0-10) against the Aggies ... Posting her first double-double of the season, sophomore Arlee Tamietti tallied 14 digs and 14 kills, while teammate Lauren Hamm garnered her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 19 digs.
Against San Francisco In their final game of the tournament, the Broncos fell to the Dons in three games with scores of 28-30, 18-30, 25-30 ... Sadie Maughan led the team offensively with a hitting-percentage of .368 (9-2-19), while sophomore Arlee Tamietti tallied a hitting-percentage of .348 (9-1-23) ... Also aiding the offense was Alisha King with 10 kills of her own ... Mandy Klein continues to chase the assists record as she posted 32 against the Dons ... Defensively, Lauren Hamm led the Broncos with 19 digs.
Stellar Start - The back-to-back three-game sweep over CSU-Fullerton and UTSA marked the first time since 2000 that Boise State had swept its first two matches of the season.
Double Team - It was double the fun on Friday when sophomore Arlee Tamietti and freshman Lauren Hamm recorded their first career double-doubles against UC Davis ... Tamietti tallied 14 digs and 14 kills, while Hamm notched 10 kills and 19 digs.
Klein Climbs Charts - Junior setter Mandy Klein, who ranks sixth on the Broncos’ career list in assists, currently ranks second in the WAC with 11.90 apg ... Klein notched 37 assists against Morgan State, taking sole possession of sixth place on the Broncos’ career list in assists ... The junior has posted 277 assists this season, moving her career total to 2,016.
Simply Flawless - Freshman middle blocker Sadie Maughan, hit .400 (8-0-20) against UTSA in her inaugural Bronco match, posting the Broncos’ fifth-most attempts without an error since 1993.
Tournament Team Players Senior Jamie Claussen and sophomore Arlee Tamietti were both named to the Bronco Invitational All-Tournament Team ... Claussen averaged 3.67 kills and 3.22 digs per game ... Tamietti averaged 3.44 kills and 1.11 digs per game during the three-match round-robin tournament ... Tamietti’s outstanding play continued at the Gonzaga Tournament as she earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after leading Broncos with 10 kills against Gonzaga.
Digging Machine - Libero Lauren Hamm proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the defensive front against Gonzaga as she notched a career-high 22 digs ...The freshman has tallied double-figure digs in every match this season ... Hamm leads the Broncos with 117 digs on the season, averaging 4.68 digs per game and ranks third in the WAC.
Double Take - Senior Jamie Claussen began her senior campaign with a double-double, recording 12 digs and a team-high 12 kills against UTSA ... the outside hitter followed up that performance with 12 kills and 13 digs against CSU-Fullerton for her second double-double of the season ... Claussen led the Broncos with nine double-doubles in 2006.
