LARAMIE, Wyo. - For the second-straight match the Boise State volleyball team earned a quick sweep over their opponent, winning over University of Texas-Arlington in their second of three matches at the Uni/Wyo Cowgirl Classic tournament. The Broncos (8-2) defeated the Mavericks (3-7) with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-15) match that lasted just over an hour.
The Broncos had another strong serving match, earning nine service aces in the mid-morning match. Senior Lauren Hamm led the Broncos with three aces, while also adding six digs. Senior Alisha Young led the offense with her 13 kills (.455) while also joining junior Breann Nesselhuf to lead the team in blocks (5). Young and Nesselhuf also each recorded two aces apiece, while Nesselhuf added 33 assists. Junior Amanda Remy added two aces, as well as a team-high of 15 digs. Sophomore Fiona Jones tallied 12 kills (.321) and seven digs to aid the Broncos as well.
UTA was held to only 25 kills (.087) as a team, while the Broncos tallied 44. Boise State also earned an 18-10 advantage in blocks and a 9-2 advantage in aces.
The Mavericks' Bianca Sauls led the team with eight kills (.467) while also adding a team-high of two blocks, one ace and nine digs. Reagan Daniel ran the offense with her 16 assists.
The Broncos continue to their final match of the tournament at 7 pm (Mountain) tonight (Sept. 11) when they take on host Wyoming.
