BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State volleyball team will be hosting the Blue-Orange intra-squad scrimmage this Saturday night, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. in Bronco Gym. This event is free to the public with parking available in the west stadium lot next to Bronco Gym. This will be Bronco nations first opportunity to check out the 2013 team which features eight returning letterwinners and three starters from last year's 17-15 squad that recorded the program's third consecutive winning season.

The veteran leaders include junior outside hitters Alyssa Gammel and Taylor Murphey, along with junior middle blockers Brittany Reardon and Aly Duffin. Senior setter Casey Rose and sophomore setter Sarah Baugh return for another campaign after leading a school record setting performance in 2012 for most assists by the team in a season with 1,565. Joining those six returners are sophomore outside hitter Katelyn Kinghorn, sophomore libero Jackie Pyles and redshirt-freshman outside hitter Janessa White.

There are a host of exciting newcomers led by senior transfer Sarah Horton an All-Big Sky performer at Montana State in 2012 who joined the Broncos over the summer. She is joined by six true freshmen in Hannah Hubbard, Kaitlyn Oliver, Laney Hayes, Izzy Miller, Abbey Vollkommer and Maddy O'Donnell.

This squad is one of the tallest Boise State has had in many years with eight players at six-feet or taller and two others that come in at 5-11. The scrimmage marks the end of two-a-days for the Broncos. On Monday they begin preparations for next week's season opener against No. 5 ranked Washington on Friday, Aug. 30, in the first round of the Northwest Challenge at Portland, Ore. The Broncos will also face Gonzaga and their host Portland State on Saturday, Aug. 31, to conclude the opening weekend of the season.
