Count Down to First Serve: Meet Hannah Hubbard

BOISE, Idaho - As part of’s preview of Boise State volleyball we are featuring each player on a 14 day count down to the first serve against Gonzaga at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, in Bronco Gym to start the Northwest Challenge. We are starting with our seniors and working down the list by class.  

Today’s Bronco player preview highlights sophomore Hannah Hubbard

Hannah is a 5-foot-8 sophomore who played every match as the Bronco libero in 2013. She is also a two sport athlete at Boise State competing for both the indoor and sand volleyball teams. The native of San Diego, Calif., is coming off a freshman campaign where she recorded 428 digs and 100 assists to ranked 14th and 13th respectively at Boise State in the career lists during the rally scoring era (2001-present).

10 Questions with Hannah...

Q: Why did you choose Boise State?

A: I chose Boise State because I love the atmosphere of the school and the town. There is so much support from the local fans and it is such a fun environment to live and play in.


Q: What’s been your favorite thing about Boise so far?

A: My favorite part about Boise is how close the community is. I love how connected everyone is to the school and athletics.


Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of volleyball?

A: Outside of volleyball I love going to the beach, shopping, and hanging out with my friends.


Q: Which teammate would win at “America’s Next Top Model”?

A: Coach Garus.


Q: What song gets you pumped up before a match?

A: Remember the Name -- by Fort Minor.


Q: What is your motto?

A: “Learn from yesterday; live for today; hope for tomorrow.”


Q: Who is your hero in life?

A: My parents are my heroes because they have been there for me throughout my life and supported me through everything.


Q: If I could spend one day in history it would be with, why that person?

A: When Jesus was born.


Q: Who has been the most influential figure in your life so far?

A: My brother, Matt. He has set a great example for me and has been my role model throughout my life. He invests so much time and interest into my career and has helped motivate me to strive for success.


Q: Looking to the future, what do you want to do in your life beyond college?

A: I hope to continue to play sand volleyball overseas, and then settle down and have a family.
