Nobley MW Preseason Player of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State's Sierra Nobley and Maddi Osburn have been named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team, while Nobley has been named the MW Preseason Player of the Year for the second-straight year. Selections were made by the vote of the league's 11 head coaches.

In addition, the defending MW champion Boise State Broncos have been picked to place a close second behind Colorado State in the preseason coaches poll. The Rams picked up 98 points and eight of 11 first-place votes, while the Broncos collected 93 points and the remaining three first-place votes.

The rest of the MW Coaches Preseason Poll followed with San Diego State (79 points) in third, Wyoming (67) fourth, Nevada (57) fifth, Utah State (51) sixth, UNLV (42), San Jose State (38), New Mexico (37), Fresno State (29) and Air Force (14).

This marks the third-consecutive year that Boise State has been picked second in the league's preseason poll.

Boise State Honorees

MW PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR: In 2016 Sierra Nobley became the first Bronco in history to be named a conference preseason player of the year. This year the senior outside hitter from Scottsdale, Ariz., becomes the first Bronco ever to be named player of the year twice, as well as first to get the accolade in back-to-back years.

Sierra Nobley: This is Nobley's third-straight year to be named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team. She is coming off a season where she led the MW in kills (522), kills per set (4.58), points (589.0) and points per set (5.17). She finished the campaign ranked 17th nationally for total kills, 12th for kills per set, 16 in total points and 13th in points per set earning her the MW Player of the Year honor, as well as her second-consecutive AVCA Honorable-Mention All-American award.

Maddi Osburn: The senior libero from Nampa, Idaho, has been named to the All-Mountain West Team for the second-straight year. Osburn is coming off a year where she led the MW in digs (544) and digs per set (4.77), while ranking 63rd nationally for total digs and 57th in digs per set.

What's Happening

PRESEASON TRAINING CAMP: The Broncos are in their final week of preseason training culminating with Saturday's annual Bronco Scrimmage pitting the Blue squad versus the Orange team at 6 p.m. (Mountain) in Bronco Gym.

Up Next

COUNTDOWN: The countdown to next week's season opener versus North Dakota State at the Sun Devil Classic on Aug. 25 is at day 10. The Broncos will face NDSU next Friday followed by matches on Saturday, Aug. 26, against Weber State and Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
