Boise State Volleyball Starts Camp
Fifteen Broncos report for preseason camp.

BOISE, Idaho -  The Boise State volleyball team opened summer practice Wednesday in preparation for the 2012 campaign which begins Aug. 24 in Seattle, Wash.  Coach Shawn Garus welcomed 15 student-athletes to camp which includes 10 returners, two spring transfers and three freshmen.

The team reported to campus yesterday, Tuesday, Aug. 7. The first day of camp started this morning with the first of three training sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by two more at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  The typical schedule during preseason camp will see two sessions a day in Bronco Gym.

Boise State returns four starters from 2011 in seniors Liz Harden (outside hitter), Fiona Jones (outside hitter) and Kersti Whitney (libero), as well as redshirt sophomore Brittany Reardon (middle blocker). The four have combined for 252 career starts and three were ranked among the top-six kill leaders for the Broncos last season. Also back from last year are Casey Rose (Jr., setter), Leah Stevens (Jr., middle blocker), Kristyn Kirschenman (R-So., defensive specialist), Taylor Murphey (So., rightside hitter), as well as redshirt freshmen Katelyn Kinghorn (outside hitter) and Sarah Webster (middle blocker).  

The 10 returners are joined on the team by two spring semester transfers in sophomores Alyssa Gammel (outside hitter) and Aly Duffin (middle blocker). Both are natives of California, Gammel transferred from Virginia Tech University while Duffin came from Georgia Southern University.

The three new faces to the team are the three true freshmen in Sarah Baugh a 5-9 setter from Poulsbo, Wash., Janessa White a 6-0 outside hitter from Salem, Ore., and Jackie Pyles a 5-8 defensive specialist from White Lake, Mich.

2012 Admission Prices

The Boise State volleyball season is only three weeks away from its opener at the Northwest Challenge in Seattle, Wash.  The Broncos first home match is Wednesday, Sept. 5, against Eastern Washington University at 7:00 p.m.  All home matches are held in Bronco Gym. Admission prices to this year's matches are $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children (high school age or younger), $4.00 for senior citizens, while Boise State students are free with their student I.D. card.  For those interested in Boise State's All Sports Pass which includes admission to all sports except football and men's basketball (or any basketball doubleheaders) the price remains the same at $50.00 per person. The sports pass is good for only Boise State events and does not include any conference or NCAA championship events.
