BOISE, Idaho (6/17/2015) - Boise State head volleyball coach Shawn Garus released the Broncos' 2015 schedule this afternoon which includes a 30-match slate. It begins with four pre-conference tournaments and includes a total of 12 home contests.

"I am really excited about our schedule for this year," said Garus. "I think we have a good mix on non-conference matches including some top-caliber teams like Washington, Northwestern, Houston and North Texas. We try to challenge our team early so they are prepared to compete in the always tough Mountain West. We have a good core group returning this year and I am excited to get things rolling."

Boise State has added a preseason intra-squad scrimmage to the schedule this year to give Bronco Nation an early look at the 2015 team. It is scheduled for Thursday, Aug 20, at 7 p.m. in Bronco Gym.

"I think the addition of the scrimmage gives us a chance to see how we have progressed during two-a-days heading into our first matches," commented Garus. "It is also a good opportunity to show case our team to Bronco Nation and get the fans excited about the team."

The season begins with the annual Northwest Challenge featuring perennial top-25 team Washington, Gonzaga and Portland State. This year's edition is being hosted by the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Spokane, Wash., Aug 28-29.

Boise State will then return home to host the Boise State Invitational Sept. 3-5 featuring Idaho State, Northwestern and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. This will be the only chance for Boise State fans to see the Broncos in action at home until league play begins.

The Broncos will then be on the road for two tournaments starting with a trip to Denton, Texas, for the North Texas Invitational. This will be the first trip for Boise State volleyball to North Texas since both schools were in the Big West Conference from 1996-2000. The invitational will include Boise State, North Texas, Houston and Abilene Christian.

The final non-conference tournament will take the Broncos on the road to Phoenix, Ariz., for the GCU Invite at Grand Canyon University Sept. 18-20. The competition will feature the host Grand Canyon Antelopes, Northern Arizona and UC Riverside.

The 18-match Mountain West schedule begins the weekend of Sept. 24-26 with the Broncos on the road at Wyoming and Colorado State. Boise State will open its home league slate in Bronco Gym the weekend of Oct. 1-3 when the Broncos welcome UNLV and Fresno State to town.

Other home conference matches include: San Jose State (Oct. 8), Colorado State (Oct. 22), Wyoming (Oct. 24), San Diego State (Nov. 12) and Nevada (Nov. 14). The regular season ends with two home matches against New Mexico (Nov. 21) and Utah State (Nov. 24).

Boise State returns the core of its 2014 team that went 18-12 overall and placed tied for fourth in the MW with an 11-7 league mark. Among the returning squad are four players who earned MW postseason honors in senior Sarah Baugh, junior Maddy O'Donnell and sophomores Kaitlyn Oliver and Sierra Nobley. It should be another action packed season as the Broncos look to move up the ranks of the Mountain West in 2015.
