USA Volleyball Press Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 9, 2015) -- Boise State volleyball's Kaitlyn Oliver has been selected to participate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team program. Oliver is the first Bronco ever to be chosen for this program and the only student-athlete from the Mountain West Conference this year. She was one of 36 athletes selected by USA Volleyball to participate in the U.S. Collegiate National Team (CNT) program that will train and compete in conjunction with the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships from June 21-29 in New Orleans, La.

"I am really excited for Kaitlyn to have this opportunity for additional training with the USA Volleyball program this summer," said coach Shawn Garus. "I know she will benefit from the competitive repetitions she will get this summer while training with elite athletes. I think she will really enjoy the atmosphere and experience that USA Volleyball puts on for this program and the junior nationals which takes place at the same time."

Last fall as a redshirt-freshman Oliver earned Boise State's first conference newcomer of the year honor since 1995. The Helena, Mont., native came on strong down the stretch finishing with the third most kills on the team with 230 and second most blocks with 80. Oliver finished ranked 60th nationally, fifth in the MW and second on the team for hitting percentage at .358, which tied for fourth-best percentage in a season in Bronco history.

Earlier this month the U.S. Collegiate National Team program selected rosters to compete in the World University Games and a Tour of China. In total, 60 athletes have been selected into the CNT program, which is part of the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline.

This program is considered by USA Volleyball as a second tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team.
