LOGAN, Utah - Leading two sets to one, Boise State volleyball could not close out Tuesday night's regular-season finale in Logan as Utah State came back to capture the final two stanzas and steal a 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 14-25, 25-23, 15-13) victory.

The loss snapped Boise State's season-best six-match winning streak and dropped the Broncos to 18-12 overall and 11-7 in MW play. Freshman Sierra Nobley paced the Broncos with 31 kills while junior setter Sarah Baugh nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 65 assists, 12 digs and seven blocks.

After hitting just .156 in dropping the opening set, 25-22, Boise State rebounded to post a combined hitting percentage of .400 in capturing the second and third frames. In a back-and-forth fourth set, the Broncos led by as many as four at the media timeout, holding a 15-11 edge.

The Aggies (13-16, 9-9 MW) scored three straight points after the break, but Nobley was able to put down consecutive kills to get the Bronco lead up to 17-14 and force Utah State to burn a timeout. The break worked again for the hosts, as Utah State took advantage of back-to-back Bronco errors the first on the serve and the second on an attack, to make a quick 4-1 run and pull even at 18-18, forcing a Boise State timeout.

Maddy O'Donnell made one of her 11 kills to give Boise State a 19-18 lead out of the timeout as the Broncos took three of the first four points to go up 22-20. Moments later the Broncos were just two points away from clinching the match, leading 23-22, until the Aggies used a Kaylie Kamalu kill and a service ace from Paige Neves to turn the tables and own set point at 24-23. On the ensuing volley, Nobley's attack error would clinch the set for Utah State, forcing the deciding fifth.

Boise State, however, appeared to shake off the missed opportunity by riding a pair of Nobley kills and two aces from Alyssa Gammel to a quick 4-0 lead in the first-to-15 stanza. Utah State would benefit from three straight Bronco attack errors, however, to pull even at 5-5 although Boise State's offense came back behind three kills from O'Donnell to fuel a 5-1 run that had the Broncos back in control at 10-5.

Yet a 1-for-6 attacking stretch by the Broncos enabled the Aggies to go in front, 12-11. Gammel would briefly stop the cold spell with a kill that brought the teams level at 12-12 but a service error followed by a Jamaica Alisa kill got Utah State to match point. Boise State could only stave off defeat for one point longer, getting a kill from Kaitlyn Oliver before Utah State's Kaitlyn Vanhoff put down her 14th kill of the night to end the match.

Vanhoff and Kamalu led the Aggies with 14 kills apiece Tuesday, while Ashlan Rogers-Court and Hannah Gleason made 14 and 13 digs, respectively.

Boise State had bounced back well after dropping the opening set, hitting .370 as five different players had at least two kills in the second set, a 25-19 win. The Broncos had jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led by as many as six before Utah State closed it to as little as a point at 15-14. Yet a 6-0 run for the Broncos which featured three aces from Maddi Osburn created a cushion and Boise State would cruise the rest of the set.

The third set was all Boise State as Nobley hit .667 with seven kills while Baugh passed out 14 assists and Oliver provided the defense, being credited with seven blocks (one solo). The frame was tightly-contested early, with the teams tied 8-8 until the Broncos benefitted from a pair of blocks and three unforced Aggie errors to go on a 9-1 run and take a commanding 17-9 lead. Nobley would get four kills to get the Broncos to set point and Gammel would end it to close the 25-14 win.
