BOISE, Idaho – Boise State’s volleyball team fell in four sets to Fresno State Thursday night (Nov. 14) in a well-fought Mountain West battle. The Bulldogs (17-10, 11-4 MW) topped the Broncos (11-15, 5-11 MW) 23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 26-24 in Bronco Gym. 

Boise State was able to clinch a set one win thanks to a .690 hitting percentage and 16 kills. Fresno State answered back in the second set outhitting the Broncos .660 to .470, carrying the momentum through set three. Boise State came back in set four looking like the dominant team until the Bulldogs were able to fight their way back in and tie up the set 23-23. Fresno State closed out the match on a Boise State error and a Korrin Wild kill.

Wild was one of the top attackers in the match, tallying 15 on the night, following behind teammate Marissa Brand who had 18 kills.

Boise State’s Alyssa Gammel led the Broncos with 16 kills, while Maddy O’Donnell added a career-high 13 kills and an impressive .400 hitting percentage. Hannah Hubbard led the Broncos with 16 digs, while Brittany Reardon led the match in defense at the net, collecting five blocks. Casey Rose led the match with a career-high five service aces, while adding 29 set assists.

The Bulldogs’ Christina Lee tallied 42 assists, while Maggie Eppright earned a match-high 19 digs. Brand had a match-leading 21.0 points on the night.

The loss to Fresno State leaves the Broncos in a 1-1 record against the Bulldogs this season after winning a Sept. 28 match, 3-2. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 20-10 over the Broncos.

Boise State continues its season Saturday, Nov. 16 in the penultimate home match of the season. The Broncos play host to San Jose State in a 6 p.m. match. Admission to the match is free to the public.
