Broncos Fall at No. 20 Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Boise State volleyball fell at No. 20 Colorado State in three sets 27-25, 25-13, 25-22 Saturday afternoon at Fort Collins. It was a match of ups and downs for the Broncos as they struggled to find consistency against the Rams. Boise State was held to 13.3 percent hitting, while CSU countered at 37.6 percent. The loss dropped the Broncos to 13-13 overall and 6-8 in MW play, Colorado State clinched the conference championship with the win as the Rams improved to 24-2 and 14-0 in league.

Sierra Nobley led Boise State with 14 kills, one service ace, eight digs and one block. Sabryn Roberts followed with seven kills, while Kiley Lewis had six.

Down 11 at 20-9 in the first set, Boise State stormed back with a 15-4 run to tie it up at 24 all. Roberts recorded three kills and two service aces during the run, Nobley added three kills and a block. Boise State would fight off six Ram set points and tied it up twice, the first when Laney Hayes slammed it down the middle to tie it up at 24, the second time was on a Janell Walley kill to make it 25 all. Unfortunately, CSU rolled off two straight to claim the victory 27-25.

After Colorado State dominated the second period winning 25-13, the Broncos regrouped and challenged in the third. The final set was tight throughout with 11 ties and five lead changes as Boise State led most of the way. Up 22-21 the Broncos could not hold on as CSU rallied with four straight points to clinch the match.

Boise State returns home for a three-match homestand to close the home schedule starting with Utah State at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night in Bronco Gym.

Maddi Osburn: The senior from Nampa, Idaho, stretched her school record for career digs to 1,692.
