BOISE, Idaho-
After falling to Colorado State Thursday night, the Boise State volleyball team fell to a tie for second place with Wyoming in the Mountain West Conference standings.

A thrilling 3-1 win over the Cowgirls Saturday at Bronco Gym put the Broncos solely in second place with a 7-3 conference record, 15-7 overall.

"Our team was emotionally crushed when we lost to Colorado State," Boise State head coach Shawn Garus said. "The only thing they could do about it was respond with a win against Wyoming. I'm very proud of them."

Boise State avenged their Sept. 24 loss to Wyoming winning the match in four sets, 25-19, 23-25, 27-25, 25-15.

Sophomore outside hitter Sierra Nobley led the way with 24 kills on 32.7 percent hitting. Nobley also added 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season.

Junior middle blocker Maddy O'Donnell and redshirt sophomore Kaitlyn Oliver added 11 and 10 kills respectively.

Senior setter Sarah Baugh achieved her 11th double-double of the season with 51 assists and 12 digs. Baugh also added six kills in the match, her most since having six in a win against Grand Canyon on Sept. 20.

The Broncos and Cowgirls began the action with a hotly contested first set. Both teams kept the score within three points before O'Donnell delivered a kill to put Boise State up 10-9. From there, the Broncos never looked back, winning the first set 25-19.

The back and forth battle continued into the second set with both the Broncos and Cowgirls keeping the score within three points. Down 17-21, O'Donnell proved to be the difference maker again, providing back-to-back kills to keep Boise State alive. However, Wyoming outlasted Boise State too win the set 25-23.

Boise State remained in control for the majority of the third set before allowing a late rally from Wyoming to tie the game at 25. Oliver's pivotal kill paved the way for a 27-25 Bronco win in the third set.

Trailing 0-1 in the fourth set, Boise State rallied with a dominating 25-15 win in the fourth set to clinch the match on a commanding kill down the middle by Sabryn Roberts.

"I feel like our team was really disappointed with how the second set went," Garus said. "To lose that back-and-forth two-point battle, they were determined at the break to not let that happen again. I think when we were able to out execute and win the third set, we had the momentum to separate from them."

Boise State returns to action Oct. 29 with a road trip to Fresno State. The Bulldogs are 4-5 in MW play and 12-11 overall.
