LOGAN, Utah (10/6/2015) - Sierra Nobley’s 19th kill of the match gave Boise State volleyball a road sweep 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 at Utah State Tuesday night. Boise State put away the first two sets easily then battled to win the third rallying from five-points down for the key victory.

“I am really proud of the way the team played tonight,” said head coach Shawn Garus. “Logan is never an easy place to play and they came back on us in the third set. We kind of took our foot off the peddle to start the final set but we were able to get momentum back as we strung things together and rallied for the win. It is another big win for us on the road.”

The win is the third straight for the Broncos as they improved to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in Mountain West play. The victory snapped an 11-match losing streak in Logan where they had not won since Oct. 1, 1998. Boise State will return home to host San Jose State at 7 p.m. on Thursday night.

Nobley led Boise State hitting 43.2 percent against the Aggies on her way to a team-high 19 kills. She finished with her fifth double-double of the season adding 11 digs to her night.

Sarah Baugh also finished with a double-double, a conference high ninth on the season, with 40 assists and 11 digs to go with four kills, one service ace and one block.

Kaitlyn Oliver hit a team-best 52.4 percent on the night with 12 kills while committing only one attack error, she also had one block.

Maddy O’Donnell contributed six kills, one assist and one service ace. Sabryn Roberts chipped in five kills, two digs and one block.

Defensively, Maddi Osburn had a team-high 16 digs followed by Hannah Hubbard with 13.

Boise State opened the match by slowly pulling away from Utah State in the first two sets. The Broncos picked the Aggies apart as they extended their lead as each set wore on taking the first by nine, 25-16, and the second by eight, 25-17. Nobley and Oliver combined for 24 kills, 15 and nine respectively, to lead the Blue and Orange.

The third set was much closer than the first two as the Aggies came out of intermission determined. Utah State led by five at 16-11 midway through the frame. Boise State regrouped and rallied tying it at 20 all, then took the lead at 21-20 on a Hubbard service ace. Nobley clinched the match with her 19th kill of the contest to give the Broncos a 25-23 set five win and the match 3-0.

Boise State hit 29.8 percent as a team with 52 kills. The Broncos also had 49 assists, three service aces, 60 digs and two blocks.

Utah State was led by Rachel Gale with 12 kills, followed by Kayla DeCoursey with 10. As a team, the Aggies hit 23.7 percent for 38 kills off 37 assists. Utah State also had one service ace, 48 digs and three blocks.
