PHOENIX, Ariz. (9/19/2015) - It took Boise State volleyball some time to get started Saturday afternoon, but once it did the Broncos cruised past the UC Riverside Highlanders in four sets 19-25, 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 on the second day of the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix. Boise State struggled early on falling by six in the opening set to UCR. Fortunately that loss seemed to wake the Broncos up as they rallied in dominating fashion to crush the Highlanders in the final three sets winning by an averaging of 12.3 points per set.

Sierra Nobley led Boise State in the victory hitting a season-high 50 percent to tally 21 kills. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native also had two assists, team-high four service aces and career-high six blocks, including three solos.

Freshman Sabryn Roberts backed Nobley up with 12 kills while hitting a career-high 55.6 percent. Kaitlyn Oliver who hit 37.5 percent notched seven kills and two blocks.

Sarah Baugh recorded her fifth double-double of the year and second of the weekend on 46 assists and team-second-best 13 digs. The senior setter also added six kills, one service ace and two blocks against UCR.

Katie Elgan had a solid day on defense recording a career-high seven blocks to go with her five kills, one service ace and one dig.

Maddi Osburn led the Broncos defensively recording a team-best 15 digs.

Boise State finished the match hitting a season-high 48.1 percent with 59 kills, 59 assists, 45 digs, as well as season-highs for service aces and blocks with nine and 13, respectively.

The Broncos held UCR to 14.8 percent hitting as a team. The Highlanders tallied 39 kills, 35 assists, four service aces, 32 digs and no blocks against the Blue and Orange. Alexis Cox led UC Riverside with 12 kills followed by Helena Peric with 11.

Boise State will close its nonconference slate tomorrow against their host the Grand Canyon Antelopes in the final contest of the GCU Invitational.
