SPOKANE, Wash. (8-29-2015) - Sierra Nobley recorded 18 kills Saturday afternoon to lead Boise State in a 3-0 loss at the hands of 10th-ranked Washington at the Northwest Challenge in Spokane, Wash. The Broncos battled hard against the Huskies after opening slow in the first set. Boise State held leads in both the second and third sets before coming up short in a 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 loss. The Broncos fall to 1-1 on the year with one more match schedule for today against tournament host Gonzaga at 7 p.m. (Mountain).

"Washington was tough to beat today," said coach Shawn Garus. "They have a lot of weapons and we struggled to play consistent. We will regroup and be ready for Gonzaga tonight."

Nobley finished the match hitting 20 percent to get her 18 kills, she added one assist, five digs and one block to her stat line. Maddy O'Donnell contributed nine kills, seven digs and one block, while Kaitlyn Oliver added five kills and two blocks. Defensively, Maddi Osburn collected 13 digs followed by Sarah Baugh with 11. Baugh recorded her second double-double of the season adding 31 assists to her dig total.

Boise State opened the first set slow falling behind the Huskies early. The Broncos were never able to get any rhythm going in the opening frame as they fell be 10 points 25-15.

The Broncos came out strong in the second set and led early on by as many as six points, 14-8. However, the Huskies strung together a 8-1 run to take the lead at 16-15. The two battled to the end but Boise State came up short 25-23. Nobley led the Broncos in the set with eight points.

The third set saw the Broncos rally from four down, 14-10 to tie the score at 15. Nobley led that rally scoring the first three of the four points. However, Boise State was unable to take the lead away from the Huskies who regrouped to claim the victory 25-19 and clinch the match.
