Pichittra Thongdach Named Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Month

DENVER - Boise State's Pichittra Thongdach has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Month for November.


Thongdach, a junior from Petchaburi, Thailand (University of Thailand), won the women's singles title at the Matador Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge. She posted a 4-0 record in singles play to win the tournament. The junior also went 2-1 in doubles with partner Lauren Megale, advancing to the finals where they fell to BYU's Hayasaka and Doerr.


The award is Thongdach’s first WAC Player of the Month award and her third overall WAC award after earning two WAC Player of the Week honors during the 2008 spring season.


 Idaho’s Artem Kunznetsov was awarded the WAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Month.


Other female nominees included: Idaho's Jana Siwa finished 4-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles play during the Boise State University Overhead Smash Invitational.


Other male nominees included: Boise State's Clancy Shields posted a 2-1 record in the consolation round of the ITA Championships. Leo Rosenberg of Hawaii def. No. 66 Richard Wire (Stanford) 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (3-0) in a mock dual match against Stanford.
