Roghaar Signs Naomi de Hart to Women's Tennis NLI

Nov. 15, 2013

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State head women’s tennis coach Beck Roghaar announced today the signing of Naomi de Hart to a National Letter of Intent. The 5-foot-7 native of Wanneperveen, The Netherlands, will join the Broncos in the fall of 2014.

“Naomi is a strong, athletic player, who competes with great intensity out there on the court,” said Roghaar. “She has some big weapons and tools in her game that set her apart from a lot of other players her age. She has a cannon for a serve and follows it up with powerful shots on both sides. She also transitions very well into the net and doesn’t let opponents get back into the point once she’s hurt them. In addition to singles, her doubles game is great which is very important in college tennis, so we’re looking forward to her experience on that side of things as well . It’s going to be a lot of fun working with her to reach her potential as it’s sky high.”

Playing tennis since the age of seven, de Hart is currently a senior in high school in The Netherlands. She boasts a very successful record throughout her junior career in The Netherlands as well as against international competition. This year at the U18 national championships she reached the round of 16. The Royal Dutch Tennis Association (KNLTB) recently honored her achievements by awarding her the prestigious status of “National Talent.” In the national Dutch open women’s rankings she has been ranked as high as 89th in singles and 55th in doubles.

De Hart made her decision to join Boise State not only based on the city, but based on her conversations with the coaches as well. She is also excited about becoming a Bronco as she feels the current members on the team are a very special group.

“I feel very welcomed and pleased to be a Bronco,” said de Hart. “I hope I can win some big matches for this team. As a Bronco I would love to become a better tennis player, as well as develop and improve myself in a very positive way. Because it is more than just hitting a ball!”

“Both on and off the court, Naomi fits very well with the culture of our program,” commented Roghaar. “She cares about those around her and is going to be a great teammate. She is dedicated to reaching her potential, and seeing those around her do the same. Naomi competes with great intensity and has a strong passion and love for the game. She works extremely hard in all she does, and we are so excited to have her joining our program and family next fall. We can’t wait to have her here with us!”
