Nov. 11, 2016

BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women’s tennis will welcome Poland native Wiktoria Nosek in the spring, head coach Beck Roghaar announced Friday. Nosek will join the Broncos in January, as a freshman.

“We are really looking forward to adding Wika to our program in January,” said Roghaar. “She comes to us as one of the top players in Poland and will bring strength to our team right away in both singles and doubles.”

Nosek is ranked No. 19 in Poland and last year achieved a world ranking from the International Tennis Federation. She was a doubles finalist in the Polish Indoor Championships in 2015, and has reached the semifinals of the Polish National Championships in doubles each of the last two years.

“Wika is a great competitor out there on the court and brings that never-say-die attitude that we love to see,” said Roghaar. “She's had wonderful success in her junior career and has a lot of tools that will allow her to continue to progress here in college tennis as part of our program.”

Nosek was honored as one of the top 64 athletes in her region in 2015.

“I am excited to be part of the team at Boise State,” Nosek said. “Coach Beck has been very open and helpful throughout this process and I can’t wait to play for him and with the team. I love tennis and I love fighting to the very end.”

“Having a chance to spend time with Wika in Poland and meet her family gave us great insight into who she truly is and what she'll add to our squad,” said Roghaar. “Her work ethic is second to none, and her loyalty and maturity will make her a phenomenal teammate to our current players. She's a quality young lady from a quality family who brings a lot of character and drive for success with her from Poland. We can't wait to get her here with us in January.”

The Broncos open the spring season Jan. 27, against Eastern Washington. Nosek will join a group that returns five student-athletes from last season. Sophomore Hanna Kantenwein was an All-Mountain West selection as a freshman.
