BOISE, Idaho – Emily Strande signed a National Letter of Intent with Boise State women’s tennis on Wednesday, head coach Beck Roghaar announced. Strande hails from Centennial, Colo., and is currently ranked third in the Intermountain Region and in the top 100 in her recruiting class.
Strande, a senior from Boulder Universal, is a four-star recruit, ranking third in the Intermountain Region, second in the state of Colorado and in the top 100 in her recruiting class. Among her many tournament wins, Strande lists her best career result as winning the Oklahoma National L2 backdraw.
“Having Emily become a Bronco is a big win,” said head coach Beck Roghaar. “Not only can she flat out play and fly around the court, but she shares the vision and hunger we have to work hard, improve and win championships. Her mentality and toughness sets her apart and has led her to be a top 100 prospect in the country, turning out big results on the court over the last two years. She’s had wonderful coaching and knows how to compete! She loves to take on challenges and doesn’t shy away from doing the things necessary to be special. Emily fits in so well with our program and will contribute and make a big impact right away. We couldn’t be more excited about having her in the Blue and Orange.”
Strande earned the USTA Colorado Margaret Rogers Phipps Sportsmanship Award in 2014 and also excels in the classroom, having maintained a GPA over 4.0 all four years of high school, earning the Boulder Universal High School Academic Achievement Award.
“In terms of her academics, she’s an all-star as well,” said Roghaar. “Carrying a 4.3 GPA while attaining such a high level of tennis is a testament to her efforts and we know she’ll transition into balancing the life of a student athlete very well.”
