Thongdach Advances in Singles at ITA National Indoor Championships

NEW HAVEN, C.T. - Boise State women’s tennis player Pichittra Thongdach advanced in singles competition at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships at Yale University in New Haven, C.T., Thursday (Nov. 5), with a win in the opening round of the tournament.

Thongdach, who opened the fall season ranked No. 47 nationally in singles, defeated No. 71 Ana-Maria Constantinescu (Oklahoma) 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to advance through the round of 32. Thongdach is now set to face the tournament’s No. 6 seed, Allie Will of the University of Florida, Friday morning. Thongdach and Will met earlier this fall at the ITA All-American Tournament, where Will prevailed in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).

Thongdach also teamed up Lauren Megale in doubles competition, where they would fall to the consolation bracket after a loss in the round of 16. No. 33 ranked Thongdach and Megale dropped their opening round match against No. 7 Natalie Pluskota and Caitlin Whoriskey (Tennessee), 8-5. The Bronco duo will continue doubles play in the consolation bracket on Friday.
