Broncos Flawless at Boise State Invitational

BOISE, Idaho The Boise State University women’s tennis team capped off an undefeated run in the Boise State Invitational, Sunday, by capturing four victories in singles play and another two in doubles play at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho.


With the victories the Broncos pushed their record for the tournament to 19-0 in singles play and 6-0 in doubles.     


Leading the way for Boise State at 3-0 in doubles, was the duo of Jana Mackova and Laura Baum. After registering two victories Saturday, the pair from Boise State was pushed to the wire by Patricia Ruman and Mariel Tinnerello of Idaho but managed to overcome the duo from Moscow, Idaho, by the score of 8-6 and register a flawless 3-0 record in the tournament.


The other doubles victory was posted by Tiffany Coll and Stacey Housley when they ousted Weber State’s Greyce Ferias and Keya Adamson 8-2.


In the singles competition, four Broncos captured a win Sunday to push their individual record for the tournament to 4-0.


Sunday, Bianca Jochimsen defeated Inalise Pienaar of Weber State by the score of 6-2 and 7-6, Baum shutout Weber State’s Ferias in straight sets 6-0 and 6-0, while Mackova downed Tinnerello 6-0 and 6-1 and Coll recorded a 6-2 and 6-3 victory over Idaho’s Lauren Drew.


“We played really well this weekend,” head coach Mark Tichenor said. “This tournament will be a great springboard for us heading into the Oregon tournament.”


The Broncos will continue their season Nov. 10-12 at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore.
