Megale Named Verizon WAC Player of the Month

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's tennis team received its second Western Athletic Conference honor of the fall on Wednesday (Nov. 3) as senior Lauren Megale was named the Verizon Wireless WAC Women's Tennis Player of the Month for October.

Megale, a Boise, Idaho (Arizona State) native, is the second Bronco to win the award this fall as sophomore Elyse Edwards received the honor for the month of September. This marks the third time in Megale's career that she has received a WAC regular season award, although it is her first player of the month selection. She received WAC Player of the Week honors twice as a sophomore.

Megale capped off a strong month of competition with a semifinals appearance in singles at the ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 20-24. She fought hard in the semifinals but would fall short of upsetting No. 1 overall seed Anastasia Putilina of Utah, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Megale also teamed up with Sonia Klamczynska to advance to the quarterfinals in doubles at the regional championship. She finished the month with a 6-4 singles record and a 5-2 record in doubles.
