Ganzha's Run Ends In Semifinals

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Boise State University women’s tennis player Tatiana Ganzha advanced the to semifinals of the ITA Central Region Championships when she defeated the tournament’s third seed, Lauren Jones of Brigham Young in three sets, 6-1, 4-6 and 7-6.


Ganzha’s run ended just short of the finals, when she was defeated by Jones’ teammate from BYU, Anastasia Surkova, 6-4 and 6-1.


In the doubles competition, Laura Baum and Jana Mackova could not overcome BYU’s number one seeded team of Surkova and Jenny Miccoli, and fell, 8-3.


Tiffany Coll and Bianca Jochimsen also lost in the quarterfinals to a pair from BYU, Dolly Chang and Chie Hayasaka, by the score, 8-4.


The ITA Central Region Champion was Annette Aksdal of Denver, who won in a default over Surkova.
