Broncos Host Boise State Invitational

What’s Happening The Boise State University women’s tennis team will host its second home meet of the fall, the Boise State Invitational, Nov. 3-5 at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex in Boise, Idaho.


Matches will begin each day at 9:30 a.m. and will last all day at the enclosed 6-court facility.  


The Field In addition to Boise State, the two-day tournament will feature inter-state and Western Athletic Conference rival Idaho as well as Weber State.

The Players The Bronco will suit up eight players this weekend starting with seniors Tiffany Coll and Stacey Housley. Joining them will be juniors Jen Wencel and Whitney Megale, sophomores Jana Mackova, Carolyn Berry and Laura Baum along with freshman Bianca Jochimsen.

Both Housley and Jochimsen earned two victories apiece in the qualifying portion of the Central Regionals to qualify for the main draw of the tournament, while Mackova advanced to the Round of 16.

“Our women just love playing at home,” head coach Mark Tichenor said. “We have a group of loyal fans that support us and it provides us with a great home court advantage.”

Last Time Out At the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Central Region Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Broncos advanced a doubles team and an individual to the semifinals.

Tatiana Ganzha overcame the tournament’s number three seed to advance to the semifinals but her run ended there.

The doubles team of Mackova and Baum reached the semifinal with three victories in the tournament and the duo of Coll and Jochimsen also reached the quarterfinals.

“We played really well at the Central Regionals,” Tichenor said. “We just want to continue to build off the momentum we gained there.”
