Thongdack, Kokoulina Fall in Round One of ITA National Tennis Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio Two Boise State’s women’s tennis team members played in the first round of the 2007 ITA National Intercollegiate Tennis Championships on Thursday, Nov. 1. Senior Polina Kokoulina and junior Pichittra Thongdack joined together in doubles play as the only two Bronco women to play in the tournament.

The Bronco duo took on NCAA No. 3 pre-season rated Kristi Miller and Whitney McCray of Georgia Tech Thursday morning at The Racquet Club of Columbus. There Kokoulina and Thongdack fell, 8-2 to the tournament’s No. 3 seed.

With the loss, the Broncos fall into the consolation bracket where they face the No. 1 seed and No. 1 NCAA ranked Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zorick of William and Mary on Friday morning at 9 a.m.

The tournament, hosted by the Ohio State University, runs from Nov. 1-4. The Bronco doubles team earned their way to the tournament after winning the 2007 ITA Central Regional on Oct. 21.
