Ganzha in Quarterfinals of Central Regional

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah Boise State University tennis player Tatiana Ganzha advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Central Region Championships, hosted by the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City.


In the opening round Ganzha defeated New Mexico’s Nora Quintal in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2.  In the Round of 16 she earned victory over Emily Kwok of Utah, 6-7, 6-4 and 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals which will be held Oct. 21.


Also making the Round of 16 was Bronco Jana Mackova.  In the morning round she defeated Utah State’s Courtney Anderson, 6-1 and 6-0 but she then fell to Anastasia Surkova of BYU, 6-1 and 6-0.


In doubles action Tiffany Coll and Bianca Jochimsen are in the semi-finals after they defeated Ferris and Walsh of Utah in a tiebreaker, 9-8. 


Playing in the Round of 16, Laura Baum and Mackova vanquished Monson and Monson of Utah State, 8-1.  In the next round they faced Iwinski and Aksdai of Denver but results had yet to go final.


Competition will begin Oct. 21, starting in the morning.
