Boise State Falls from Main Draw at Regional Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Boise State women's tennis team saw its run in the main draw of the ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas, Nev. come to an end, Saturday (Oct. 16), as the Broncos suffered losses in singles and doubles to finish their shot at capturing individual titles.

Senior Lauren Megale opened the day in search of a win to put her in the championship match of the singles tournament. Standing in her way was No. 1 overall seed Anastasia Putilina (Utah), who is currently ranked No. 67 nationally. Megale put up a tough fight, winning the first set 6-2. Putilina would take control from there, however, winning the next two sets 6-2, 6-3 to finish Megale off.

Megale would look to rebound in doubles competition as she and teammate Sonia Klamczynska were set to meet Lucia Batta and Anna Maskaljun (UNLV) in the doubles quarterfinal round. Megale and Klamczynska would push Batta and Maskaljun but in the end fell just short once again, dropping the match 8-5 to fall from the competition.

Boise State did earn one victory on Saturday as senior Stephanie Jasper picked up another win in singles consolation play. She beat Ellie Crum (Montana State) 6-2, 6-0 to improve to 3-1 on the weekend.
