Regional Tournament Starts Wednesday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Boise State women’s tennis begins its run at the ITA Mountain Regional Championship Wednesday, in Albuquerque, N.M. The draws for the tournament were released Tuesday, with Hanna Kantenwein earning Boise State’s top seed at No. 11 in singles.

Five Broncos will take part in the tournament throughout the week, featuring student-athletes from 16 schools. Kantenwein will be joined by Kirsty Venter, Nancy Menjivar, Lilian Poling and Milena Toseva.

The singles tournament features 105 competitors in a draw of 128. There are 32 seeds, with the top 16 being placed accordingly in the bracket and opponents for the next 16 drawn at random. The doubles bracket follows a similar format with 49 duos in a draw of 64. The top 16 teams are seeded, including the top eight placed accordingly.

Poling is among those seeded 17-32 in the singles draw. Kantenwein and Toseva are one of the 9-16 seeds on the doubles side. Poling and Menjivar will play together in doubles.

Action gets underway Wednesday, with one round of singles and one round of doubles. The tournament will begin with the doubles round of 64, followed by the singles round of 128. Matches will take place at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium, the Linda Estes Tennis Club and the LETC Indoor Bubble.
