Boise State Hosts Jack Taylor Classic

What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s tennis team will host its first of two fall tournaments Oct. 6-8. The opening tournament is named the Jack Taylor Classic in honor of the longtime Bronco’s tennis booster. The tournament opens with singles play beginning Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Appleton Tennis Center.

The Teams- Boise State is set to host Pacific-10 schools Washington State and Oregon as well as the Mountain West’s New Mexico.

Last season Head Coach Mark Tichenor guided Boise State to a second place finish in the WAC.

The Players - The Broncos are scheduled to have eight women compete in singles events as well as a number of them competing as doubles teams.

Boise State will be led by their two seniors Tiffany Coll and Stacey Housley.

Last time out at the Brigham Young Invitational Housley reached the semi-finals of singles play before eventually falling. While Coll and partner Laura Baum reached the semi-finals of the doubles competition.

Housley and Coll will be joined by teammates Polina Kokoulina, Carolyn Berry, Bianca Jochimsen, Jana Mackova, Tatiana Ganzha and Baum.

In the doubles portion of the Brigham Young Invitational, Ganzha and Kokoulina reached the finals before being defeated by the team from Utah.

Last season Ganzha was also named WAC Player of the month for Sept. Additionally she captured a doubles title with teammate Mackova at Washington State University’s annual Cougar Classic and the singles title in the "B" bracket of the BYU Classic.
