Broncos Host 2007 Jack Taylor Tennis Invitational

What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s tennis team will host the Jack Taylor Tennis Invitational, Oct. 5-7, in honor of the longtime Bronco’s tennis booster. The tournament opens with singles play beginning Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center. If poor weather conditions arise, the event will be moved to the indoor courts at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex.

The Teams- Boise State is set to host Mountain West schools New Mexico and Utah as well as the Big Sky’s Montana State and the Pacific-10’s Oregon.

The Players - The Broncos are scheduled to have seven women compete in singles events as well as a number of them competing as doubles teams.

Boise State will be led by their two seniors Stacey Housley and Polina Kokoulina. Last season, Kokoulina was named to the All-WAC first team in singles.

Last season Head Coach Mark Tichenor guided Boise State to a second place finish in the WAC.

Last Year at the Jack Taylor Tennis Invitational - Last season the Broncos swept their three doubles matches over opponent Washington State and split their singles matches by the count of 4-4 on the opening day.

Their outstanding play carried into day two as Boise State took nine of the 11 matches played that day with. Seven victories came against Washington State as the Broncos took seven of the eight singles matches from WSU after taking all three doubles matches in Friday’s competition. Boise State also recorded three wins in doubles Saturday.

On the final day of competition, the Broncos took three of the five singles matches from the University of Oregon. Individually, Tatiana Ganzha and Jana Mackova both capped off a perfect 3-0 weekend while teammate Bianca Jochimsen turned in an undefeated weekend at 2-0.
