Women's Tennis Heads to Logan for Utah State Invite

UTAH STATE INVITE
  • WHAT’S HAPPENING:  Boise State is on the road for week three of the fall season heading to Logan, Utah, to participate in the Utah State Invite. 
  • LOCATIONS: The tournament is being played at two sites in Logan, at the Utah State outdoor courts and the Sports Academy and Racquet Club. 
  • TIME and DAYS: The tournament runs Friday through Sunday. The action begins at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Friday 
  • 10 a.m.  Boise State vs. Montana State (doubles only) at USU courts
  • 1 p.m.    Boise State vs. BYU (singles only) at Sports Academy
  • 5 p.m.    Boise State vs. Weber State (doubles only) at USU courts
 
Saturday
  • 10 a.m.   Boise State vs. Utah State (singles only) at USU courts
  • 1 p.m.     Boise State vs. BYU (doubles only) at USU courts
  • 3 p.m.     Boise State vs. Montana State (singles only) at USU courts
 
Sunday
  • 9 a.m.     Boise State vs. Idaho State (singles only) at Sports Academy
  • 11 a.m.   Boise State vs. Utah State (doubles only) at USU courts
 
 
REPRESENTING THE BRONCOS
  • Boise State traveled the entire team, eight players, to Logan for this event.
 
 
LEADING THE BRONCOS
  • Three Broncos enter the week with one singles loss led by Megan LaLone and Sammie Watson who are 7-1, while freshman Arianna Paules Aldrey owns a 6-1 singles make after two tournaments ... Bobbi Oshiro is 6-2, Naomi de Hart and Teal Vosburgh are both 5-2.
  • Watson advanced to the WSU Cougar Classic Gray flight championship match last weekend before suffering her first loss of the fall ... Naomi de Hart won the Gray flight consolation title in Pullman, Wash., last week going 3-1 in singles.
  • In doubles Oshiro and Watson are 5-2 for the top record this fall ... Kaitlyn Brown and de Hart are 4-3.
 
 
ABOUT THE BRONCOS
  • Overall: The Broncos are a combined 43-17 in singles this fall and 15-12 in doubles. 
  • What’s Back: Boise State returns six letterwinners from 2013-14 in Kaitlyn Brown (Sr. - Boise, Idaho), Megan LaLone (Jr. - Stanwood, Wash.), Bobbi Oshiro (Jr. - Waipahu, Hawaii), Milena Toseva (So. - Stuttgart, Germany), Teal Vosburgh (Jr. - Katy, Texas) and Sammie Watson (Sr. - Denver, Colo.).
  • What’s New: The Broncos welcomed Arianna Paules Aldrey (Fr. - A Coruna, Spain) and Naomi de Hart (Fr. - Wanneperveen, The Netherlands) to the squad this August. Both were highly successful youth players in their respective countries and in Europe.
  • Megan LaLone returns with the most singles victories last season going 22-11 overall, followed by Teal Vosburgh at 19-12.
  • The Broncos have gone 13-10 each of the last two years and are looking to start their rise in the region in 2014-15. 
  • Boise State has always enjoyed solid fan support from Bronco Nation finishing last season ranked third nationally in attendance.
 
 
ACADEMIC SUCCESS
 
 
COACH ROGHAAR
  • Coach Beck Roghaar enters his fifth season at the helm of the Boise State program, as well as his fifth as a collegiate head coach.
  • In his first four seasons he went 51-40 in duals.
