LaLone Wins Two Titles at Jack Taylor Classic
Broncos win three titles on Sunday.

BOISE, Idaho - Megan LaLone won two titles Sunday afternoon to lead Boise State on the final day of the Jack Taylor Classic in Boise. It was an outstanding day for the freshman from Stanwood, Wash., winning the Orange Flight singles title in straight sets, before teaming up with freshman Bobbi Oshiro to bring home the Orange Flight doubles championship.  The day was complete when Teal Vosburgh and Manuela Pietzuch came away with a victory in the Orange Flight doubles consolation championship match.

For the weekend Boise State turned in an excellent performance winning three titles and going a combined 26-11 in singles matches and 14-6 in doubles. The Broncos were represented in two of the three finals in both singles and doubles.

LaLone led the team in singles with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating Montana's Laurence Pelchat 6-3, 7-6 (2) in Sunday's championship contest at the Appleton Tennis Center. Marlena Pietzuch also had a solid weekend for the Broncos going 3-1 and advancing to today's Blue Flight singles championship match where she fell 6-4, 6-4 to Utah State's Mackenzie Davis.

Boise State had an equally strong outing in doubles over the weekend at the Jack Taylor Classic with two pairs reaching title matches and a third playing for a consolation bracket championship. The freshmen duo of Oshiro and LaLone came away with the title in the Orange Flight when they defeated Maddy Murray and Mackenzie Rozell from Montana, 8-4, finishing the tournament with a perfect 4-0 mark.

In the doubles Blue Flight Boise State's team of Sandy Vo and Marlena Pietzuch advanced to the final with a 3-0 record before falling to Utah State's Mackenzie Davis and Jaci West 8-3 for the draw's championship.

After dropping their first doubles match in the Orange Flight on Friday, Vosburgh and Manuela Pietzuch rallied, battling through the consolation bracket to win the draw's championship 8-2 over Seattle U's Gabriella Weissmann and Sarah Lucas. Vosburgh and Pietzuch finished the tournament with a 3-1 record.

The Jack Taylor Classic was the third of four events that Boise State will compete in this fall. Next up for the Broncos is the ITA Mountain Region Championship in Las Vegas, Nev., Oct. 10-14. Boise State will take eight of its 11 Broncos to the final competition in two weeks.
