Women's Tennis Hosts Jack Taylor Classic

BOISE, Idaho-Boise State women's tennis will host the Jack Taylor Classic, Friday through Sunday, at the Appleton Tennis Center and Julia Davis Park. The Broncos welcome Idaho State, New Mexico, Utah State and Weber State for the three-day event.

Matches get underway Friday morning at 8:30, with doubles action and start times run through 5 p.m. with consolation singles. The second day of competition also begins at 8:30 a.m. and Saturday's final matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Champions will be crowned Sunday with two rounds of matches, first with singles at 9 a.m. and doubles at 10:30 a.m.

Boise State opened its fall slate Sept. 23-25, at the Cougar Classic in Pullman, Wash. The Broncos were led by the doubles team of Sonia Klamczynska and Marlena Pietzuch who took home the Flight 1 Doubles Championship. The duo will split up this weekend.

Klamczynska will pair up with freshman Kaitlyn Brown in the Orange Flight Doubles competition. Brown, a Timberline High School product, made her collegiate debut at the Cougar Classic and will don the orange and blue in front of the home crowd for the first time. Also making her home debut for Boise State is junior transfer Manuela Pietzuch.

Manuela will team with her twin sister Marlena in the Blue Flight Doubles. Manuela transferred from Virginia Commonwealth this season and went 3-1 in singles last weekend in her first competition as a Bronco.

In addition to winning the doubles title, Marlena enjoyed a semifinal run in Flight 1 Singles at the Cougar Classic.

Sandy Vo and Morgan Basil will form the other Boise State doubles team, joining the Pietzuch sisters in the Blue Flight. Vo suffered her only singles loss last weekend in the championship match of Flight 3.

Basil, Klamczynska, Pietzuch, Pietzuch and Vo will participate in Blue Flight Singles this weekend, while Brown will play in the Orange Flight.
