Broncos to Host Jack Taylor Boise State Open

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's tennis team returns home this week to host its only tournament of the fall as the Broncos will compete in the Jack Taylor Boise State Open, Friday-Sunday (Oct. 1-3), at the Appleton Tennis Center.

The Jack Taylor Open will kick-off at 9 a.m. on Friday with doubles competition. A flight of singles action will follow immediately after doubles conclude. The same format will be used all three days. Boise State will square off against players from Washington State University, University of Montana and University of Idaho throughout the weekend.

Last time out...

The Broncos head into their only home tournament of the fall season with a great deal of momentum following a strong showing at the Washington State Cougar Classic last weekend (Sept. 24-26). As a team Boise State went 16-3 in singles as three players reached the semifinal round. The Broncos were led in singles by Elyse Edwards, who compiled a 6-0 record en route to winning the Crimson Singles Title.

Boise State's success didn't end there, however, as the Broncos also placed a team in the championship match of the Crimson Doubles Bracket. Sonia Klamczynska and Marlena Pietzuch earned a runner-up finish in doubles after winning three of four matches on the weekend.

Strong start...

Boise State has enjoyed a strong start to the fall season, particularly in singles where the Broncos have played to a 20-5 overall record including 2-1 against ranked opponents. The women are also 5-3 in doubles after competing in two tournaments this fall.
