Boise State head women’s tennis coach Beck Roghaar was notified Tuesday afternoon that three more of his Broncos had received invitations to compete this weekend at the 2017 Riviera ITA Women’s All-American Championships at Pacific Palisades, Calif. This will be one of Boise State's largest contingents in program history to participate in this prestigious invite only tournament.

Earlier this month sophomore Anja Dokic received her invitation to compete in singles starting with the tournament’s pre-qualifying rounds this Saturday. On Tuesday, Lilian Poling was invited to compete in doubles with Dokic, in addition, Boise State’s freshman tandem of Vanessa Timm and Wilhelmina Palmer also received an invite for doubles. Both doubles teams will open competition in the pre-qualifying phase as well which also starts on Saturday at Pacific Palisades.

The All-American consists of three phases beginning with the “pre-qualifying rounds” Sept. 30-Oct. 1 with 64 singles participants and 32 doubles teams. The Broncos’ representatives must win three matches in order to advance into the next phase of the tournament.

The second stage is the “qualifying rounds” played Oct. 3-4. Like in the pre-qualifying phase you must win three matches in singles or doubles to advance to the final main draw. In the qualifying phase of the tournament they take 64 singles players made up of three representatives from each ITA region, the top-eight players from the pre-qualifying phase, as well as 19 at-large/wild card selections.

In doubles the second phase of qualifying consists of 32 teams made up of two teams per ITA region, four teams from the pre-qualifying rounds and three at-large/wild card selections. A team must win three matches to advance to the final stage of the tournament.

The “main draw” runs Oct. 5-8 with a berth into the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships (Nov. 2-5) on the line. The main draw for singles will consist of 32 players made up of automatic entries featuring the ITA National Summer Championships winner, one representative per ITA region and returning ITA All-Americans (from 2016-17 season). In addition, the top eight players from the qualifying round advance.

In doubles there are 24 teams that compete in the main draw made up of seven at-large/wild card selections, four teams from the qualifying tournament and the following automatic entries: ITA National Summer Championships Champions (if from same school) and one representative from each ITA region.

The Riviera ITA Women’s All-American Championships are not the only events going on this weekend. Boise State will be sending two Broncos to compete at the Gonzaga Invite in Spokane, Wash.

The Broncos going north to Spokane with assistant coach Kristian Widen will be Wiktoria Nosek and Jovana Kuljanin. The tandem will compete in both singles an doubles play during the event which runs Friday through Sunday on the Gonzaga campus.
