Boise State to Host Jack Taylor Classic

Eleven schools to compete at three locations.


WHAT'S HAPPENING:  Boise State's women's tennis team is hosting its annual fall tournament the Jack Taylor Classic this weekend at the Appleton Tennis Center on campus, Julia Davis Park and Timberline High School.  This is the third of four fall tournaments that the Broncos will participate.

DATES:  The tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning and runs through Sunday morning.  The latest match scheduled during the three days is roughly 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.   

SCHOOLS COMPETING:
  Boise State, Brigham Young, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, Seattle, Utah State and Weber State.   

INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANTS:  The Jack Taylor Classic will have approximately 75 young women competing in three flights (blue, orange and white) of singles and three flights of doubles.

ADMISSION:  The cost of attending the competition is free for everyone.    

PARKING:  Parking at Julia Davis Park and Timberline High School is free and on a first come first served basis. Parking at Boise State for the Appleton Tennis Center is also free, however, on Friday fans must park on the fourth and fifth floors of the Lincoln Garage located at the corner of Lincoln and University. On Saturday and Sunday fans will be able to park in the parking lot between Taco Bell Arena and Bronco Stadium. LOOKING AT BOISE STATE
REPRESENTING BOISE STATE:  Boise State will be represented well at this event with all 11 members of the squad participating in the Jack Taylor Classic.

WHAT'S BACK FOR THE BRONCOS: 
The Broncos return six letterwinners from last year's roster including All-MW honorees (doubles) Marlena and Manuela Pietzuch, seniors from Germany. Joining those two are senior Fiona Mok (Boise, Idaho), juniors Morgan Basil (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Sandy Vo (Melbourne, Australia), and sophomore Kaitlyn Brown (Boise, Idaho).  

WHAT'S NEW FOR THE BRONCOS:
  Boise State welcomed five newcomers to campus this August in transfers Anissa Bryant-Swift (Bellevue College) and Sammie Watson (University of Utah). The duo is joined by true freshmen Megan LaLone (Stanwood, Wash.), Bobbi Oshiro (Waipahu, Hawaii) and Teal Vosburgh (Katy, Texas). Together they represent Boise State's 35th ranked recruiting class by TennisRecruiting.com.   



BOISE STATE BREAKDOWN FOR JACK TAYLOR CLASSIC

Singles Blue Flight:  Five Broncos will compete in the singles "Blue Flight." Marlena Pietzuch will get a bye in the round of 32 and will see her first action at approximately 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Appleton Tennis Center. Joining her are Morgan Basil, Sandy Vo, Sammie Watson and Teal Vosburgh.

Singles Orange Flight:   The "Orange Flight" will see four Broncos participating led by Manuela Pietzuch with Megan LaLone, Anissa Bryant-Swift and Bobbi Oshiro completing Boise State's part of the draw. LaLone received a bye into the round of 16. The majority of the Orange Flight matches will be held at Julia Davis Park on Friday and Saturday.

Singles White Flight:  Rounding out the singles competition for Boise State will be Fiona Mok and Kaitlyn Brown who will compete in the "White Flight" played primarily at Timberline High School on Friday and Saturday.

Doubles Blue Flight:  Blue Flight doubles start Friday around 3:00 p.m. at the Appleton Tennis Center. Boise State will have two teams in the flight with Sandy Vo and Marlena Pietzuch receiving a bye into the quarterfinals.
